01Contact support
Utility Island is built and supported by Andrii Kolisnyk, an independent developer based in Ukraine. There is no support desk and no ticket queue — messages come to me and I answer them myself.
Email — kolisnyk7@gmail.com. I usually reply within 24–48 hours.
Write about anything: a bug, a question, a feature you want, or a privacy request. To get a useful answer faster, include:
- your device (iPhone, iPad or Mac) and its iOS or macOS version;
- the Utility Island version, shown at the bottom of the app’s settings;
- what you expected to happen, and what happened instead;
- a screenshot or screen recording, if the problem is visual.
02Common questions
The shelf does not appear when I hover the notch
Utility Island needs to be running — check for it in the menu bar. macOS also needs to have granted the permissions it asks for on first launch; open System Settings → Privacy & Security and confirm they are still enabled, since a macOS update can reset them.
Why does it ask for Accessibility or Input Monitoring?
Only to detect the hover and paste gestures that make the shelf work. It is never used to log keystrokes, and no input is recorded, stored or transmitted. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security; the app keeps working, minus the gestures that need it.
How do I clear my clipboard history?
Clear the whole history from the shelf at any time — it is removed from disk immediately. Worth reading the clipboard warning in the privacy policy first: a clipboard manager remembers what you copy, and sometimes that is a password. Apps that mark an item as concealed, as most password managers do, are respected and never recorded.
I lost a file I had parked on the shelf
The shelf is a temporary holding place, not a backup. Files parked there can be lost if the app is deleted, if its container is cleared, or if the original file is moved or deleted at source. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — I have no way to recover it, because nothing is ever uploaded to me.
Does it work on a Mac without a notch?
The shelf is designed around the notch on MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models that have one. On other Macs the behaviour differs. Email me with your model and I will tell you exactly what to expect on it.
03Purchases and subscriptions
Everything you buy in Utility Island is billed by Apple, not by me. That means Apple holds the payment details and Apple issues the refunds — but it also means the controls are in one predictable place.
- Cancel a subscription — System Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → Manage → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you have paid for runs to its end.
- Deleting Utility Island does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it first, or it keeps renewing.
- Restore a purchase on a new device — reinstall Utility Island, open it while signed in to the same Apple Account, and use Restore Purchases in the app’s settings.
- Ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Only Apple can return the money, but email me first if something went wrong and I will help where I can.
If a purchase does not unlock after restoring, email me with the date of purchase and I will look into it.
