Storytelling Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of Storytelling for iOS. They are the agreement between you and me — the person who built it. The story library is free; personalised stories need the optional Premium subscription, and the terms for that are here too.

01The agreement
Storytelling is developed and published by Andrii Kolisnyk, an independent developer based in Ukraine. By downloading, installing or using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.
How your information is handled — in particular how a child’s name is used — is covered separately, in the Storytelling Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.
Storytelling is rated 4+ and is made for children. If you are a parent or guardian installing it for a child, you are accepting these terms on their behalf and are responsible for supervising their use of it.
02Your licence
Andrii Kolisnyk grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Storytelling on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in Apple's App Store Terms of Service. The licence is granted — Storytelling is licensed to you, not sold.
- You may not redistribute, rent, lease, lend, sell or sublicense the app.
- You may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
- You may not remove or obscure any copyright, trade mark or other proprietary notice.
03Free, and the subscription
Storytelling is free to download, and the narrated story library, the sleep timer, kids’ mode and story requests are free to use.
Personalised stories — a new story written and narrated around details you give — need Storytelling Premium, an auto-renewing subscription offered monthly or yearly, with no free trial. It entitles you to one new personalised story per day (a day runs midnight to midnight UTC) while it is active; the limit is counted on my server, not on your device. Prices are the App Store’s own, shown in the app and on the App Store in the currency of your storefront before you agree to anything; any saving the app shows for the yearly plan is worked out from those real prices. Stories you have already made stay playable if the subscription ends. They are tied to the app’s anonymous ID on your device, so they may not follow you to a new one — there is no sign-in to carry them across yet.
04Subscriptions, and how to cancel
Everything you buy in Storytelling is billed by Apple, not by me. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
You can close the Premium screen and keep using the free library — including the screen shown at the end of setup, which never appears once you subscribe. After you buy, the app checks the purchase with my server before it unlocks story creation. If that check has not finished, the app says the purchase is awaiting activation; it completes on its own and you are never charged twice. With Ask to Buy, nothing is charged until the request is approved.
- A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
- Cancel in the Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Storytelling, then Cancel Subscription. The app shows whether Premium is active under Profile, and Restore purchases is on the subscription screen, but it has no cancel or refund button of its own. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you have already paid for runs to its end. Apple does not refund an unused part of a period.
- There is no free trial at present. If one is ever offered, it converts into a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Restore purchases on the Premium screen brings an active subscription back on a reinstall or a new device signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Refunds are Apple’s to give, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Email me first if something went wrong and I will help where I can.
Prices may change. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and Apple notifies you and asks you to agree before charging a higher price for a renewal.
05Personalised stories are made by AI
A personalised story is written, illustrated and narrated by AI models, from the details you enter. Each one passes through the AI provider’s automated safety filters at their strictest setting, but no automated system is perfect: read or listen to a new story before your child does, if that matters to you, and email me about anything that should not have got through.
Making a story takes several minutes and depends on outside services. A story can fail to finish; when it does, the app says so and, where the failure allows it, lets you try again. Personalised stories are currently in English only. The length is approximate and not promised.
Do not enter anything about a child beyond what the form asks for. A nickname works as well as a real name.
06The stories, and who owns them
The library stories, their narration, their artwork, and the app’s name, icon, design and code are the property of the developer or its licensors, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law.
- You may play the stories for your own family, as often as you like.
- You may not extract, re-record, redistribute, broadcast or publish the audio or artwork, or use it in another product.
- Personalised stories made for you are for your own family’s private use. You may keep and replay them, but not sell or publish them.
The details you provide — a child’s name and their story preferences — remain yours. I claim no ownership of them and no licence to use them beyond producing the story you asked for, as the privacy policy describes.
07Using the app responsibly
You agree not to use Storytelling for any unlawful purpose, not to attempt to interfere with or gain unauthorised access to it or any service behind it, and not to use automated means to extract its content.
08Kids’ mode and the PIN
Kids’ mode simplifies the interface and locks the exit behind a PIN you set. It is a convenience for handing a child the device, not a security control and not a parental-control system. It does not restrict anything outside Storytelling.
09Sleep timer and audio
The sleep timer fades playback out and stops it after the interval you choose. It depends on iOS continuing to run the app’s audio session in the background, which the system may interrupt — a call, another app taking over audio, Low Power Mode, or the device running out of battery. Playback stopping early, or a timer not firing exactly on time, is possible.
Storytelling plays audio at whatever volume the device is set to. Check the volume before handing the device to a child, particularly with headphones.
10Changes to the app
Storytelling is actively developed. Stories may be added or removed, features may change, and support for older versions of iOS ends as Apple’s own support does. I may also stop distributing the app.
11Limitation of liability
Storytelling is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. I do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any given story will suit any given child.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the app, and I am not responsible for third-party services such as app stores. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid me in the twelve months before the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions. Where that is the case they apply only so far as permitted, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
12Termination
This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms, and you may end it at any time by deleting Storytelling from your devices. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — cancel that with Apple first. The sections on ownership, liability and governing law survive termination.
13Apple’s licence and Apple’s role
Storytelling is licensed, not sold, under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement — the standard agreement that applies to every app distributed through the App Store. It governs the licence itself: which devices you may install on, Family Sharing, and what you may not do with the app. These Terms sit on top of it and cover everything else.
Where the two ever conflict on a question of licence scope, Apple’s agreement wins.
This agreement is between you and Andrii Kolisnyk only, not with Apple. Apple does not sponsor or endorse Storytelling, and is not responsible for it or for its contents. Andrii Kolisnyk, not Apple, is responsible for support, for any warranty that applies, and for addressing any claim about the app — including product liability, regulatory-compliance and consumer-protection claims.
You must also comply with any third-party terms that apply while using Storytelling — your carrier’s data agreement, and the terms of any service the app connects to.
14Modifications to these Terms
These terms may change as the app changes. The date at the top of this page is always the date of the current version, and material changes will be announced in the App Store release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised terms; if you do not, stop using it and delete it.
15Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by and interpreted under the laws of Ukraine, and any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ukraine. For users in the EU: nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer under EU law.
If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
16Contact
Andrii Kolisnyk — independent iOS and macOS developer, Ukraine.
App support and privacy contact — kolisnyk7@gmail.com. Use it for anything about this document, a privacy request, a deletion request, or a problem with the app. I read and answer these myself; there is no support desk in between.
Freelance and hiring enquiries go somewhere else — kolisnyk9@gmail.com, or the contact panel on the portfolio. The two inboxes are deliberately separate, so app support is never sitting behind a pile of work enquiries.
